Prenatal DNA Paternity Testing

If you are pregnant and you want your paternity results prior to giving birth, you may want to consider a Prenatal Paternity test. Formerly, it was impossible to test babies until they were six months old. Now, one of the fastest growing areas of paternity testing is prenatal DNA testing.

While it has been possible for many years to perform a prenatal test for paternity, it has not been routinely done because of the small risk to the fetus and the long turn around time (six to eight weeks). That is changing as the amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling procedures become more accepted and routine. These are the procedures for obtaining cells from the unborn baby which, in the past, have been limited to women over thirty-five or for families with a history of genetic disease. With the latest in DNA testing methods results can be obtained in a matter of days.

How Prenatal DNA Testing Works:

Step 1: First, you will need to find a qualified Obstetrician in your area who will perform either an amniocentesis (after 12 weeks gestation) or CVS (between 9 and 12 weeks gestation) procedure on you. Amnio and CVS Testing must be completed by a physician, in order to obtain a sample for the unborn baby.
Step 2: Collect a DNA sample from the alleged father(s) with our 'Standard' DNA Paternity Collection Kit. If he is not available to provide a sample ask us about other options available to you.
Step 3: After all of your samples have been recieved from the 'Standard' test AND from the amniocentesis (NOTE: The doctor will send the sample directly to the lab following your appointment), we will proceed with testing.
Step 4: A report of all of the test results will be generated and sent immediately to you. In addition, you can call one of our specialists to go over the results with you.

The results of a Prenatal DNA Test are court admissable as long as all of the samples are collected by a qualified collection facility. Contact one of our specialists today at 1-877-DNA-1362 to help you answer any questions you may have regarding Prenatal DNA Paternity Testing.
